Business Development Manager, EMEA – Contour Design

On behalf on Contour Design, we are looking for an ambitious and result-focused Business Development Manager who will get a key role in identifying, developing, implementing and managing channel and sales strategies in selected countries in EMEA.

About Contour Design
Founded in 1995 by Steve Wang of Windham, New Hampshire, USA, Contour Design Inc. develops and sells ergonomic computer mouse devices that allow users to work safely on their computers without the risk of pain or strain. Contour Design sells and markets the products in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and rest of EMEA, and is headquartered in Ballerup, Denmark.

Contour Design Nordic has been the market leader in the industry since the launch of their first ergonomic mouse. Their award-winning mouse - RollerMouse Red - is the result of many years of targeted research, development and design. Over the years, Contour Design has managed to shift the perception of ergonomic mouse devices as a tool for the few, to a tool for anyone who wants to prevent injuries as a result of working in front of the computer. Thus, it is no longer solely a question of symptom treatment, but the desire for greater profits and efficiency in everyday life that drives the investment in ergonomic mouse devices.

Contour Design also has partnerships with distributors and dealers of ergonomic office equipment in e.g., Germany, France, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Austria, and Switzerland.

The position
In the position as Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for identifying, developing, implementing, and managing channel and sales strategies in selected countries in EMEA (excl. the Nordics). A key element to drive development in EMEA is for you to co-develop, implement, and manage the Contour Partner Program by identifying and signing relevant reseller partners and ensuring growth of sales by successfully managing all levels of the program.

Furthermore, you will take on an essential role in ensuring the integrated Partner Program with the new Value-Added Price program and take part in daily management of the system with distributors and resellers. This position is an ideal opportunity to develop your professional skills within sales and business development as it is expected that you will become an expert in understanding the customers’ businesses, challenges, opportunities, and strengths.

Your market- and business insight will thus play a vital role in deciding regional go-to-market strategies and onboarding potential sales staff (KAM or CRM) to support your business development locally. A team of up to 2 people is expected to be reporting to you within the first year.

Among your responsibilities, you will build and communicate quarterly sales and marketing business plans with integration of demand generation activities and forecasting. Driving the roll-out of dedicated in-store  solutions at Premium Partners and tailor training programs for all levels of sales channels. are also essentials for you to own.

Finally, you will be given ambitious sales and channel development targets and be rewarded correspondingly by a motivating bonus program. As Business Development Manager, you will be reporting to the Sales Director EMEA and work closely together with your stakeholders in the Global Marketing and Business Controlling team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Establish sell-out and sell-through analysis based on marketing activities and sales run-rates
  • Manage sales, forecast and marketing activity plans with distributors and Premium Partners
  • Responsible for local sales and marketing budgets
  • Drive incentive and growth programs with distributors and resellers
  • Initiate reseller and end-user campaigns with ROI tracking
  • Implement Contour Partner Program at selected identified resellers
  • Integrate new Value-Added Program structure with distributors and resellers
  • Roll-out dedicated in-store solutions at Premium Partners
  • Tailor training programs for all levels of sales channels
  • Build sales and marketing business plan towards (top 100) end-users
  • Identify and engage local sales team of up to 2 salespeople as direct reports

Your profile
The ideal candidate to this position holds a bachelor’s degree and comes with +3 years of industry related business development experience. It is a clear advantage if you have experience from a similar role within account management or other relevant sales roles. Having a natural interest in computer devices and the products is also a clear advantage, but not a requirement.

To fulfill this role as Business Development Manager you have a proven knowledge and execution of successful development strategies. You possess strong analytic, communication and interpersonal skills. Most importantly, you are result-oriented, outgoing and a strong networker and collaborator who thrives in a social office environment. Being an inspiring communicator and storyteller, who is audience-minded and can motivate and convince people around you is a must as a big part of the role is related to sales.

Finally, you have a natural interest in the latest technology, come with high ambitions and are eager to take part in Contour’s exciting growth journey.

You are expected to be open to business travels at appr. 40-60 days a year.
