Communications Manager for Schmidt Hammer Lassen

On behalf of Schmidt Hammer Lassen Architects we are looking for a highly ambitious, creative, and well-articulated Communications Manager to become a part of their Communications and Business Development team. You will enter a crucial role in developing and telling stories of worldwide projects, hereto ensure communication strategies which ultimately will strengthen the company’s brand position in its key market.

The company was founded in Aarhus, Denmark in 1986 and has undergone a generational change in recent years. Today SHL is led by the partner group of 6. The firm provides skilled architectural services all over the world, with a distinguished track record as designers of international, high-profile architecture. The Communications Manager will be a key driver in ensuring the success of content development, joining the firm in shaping and executing the next chapter in Schmidt Hammer Lassen’s evolution towards an even stronger brand positioning.

 

The position
The position requires a bold, sharp, and strategic driven Communications Manager with flair to set the strategic direction of the communication and content. You will be a part of the Communications and Business Development team in Copenhagen, and it is expected that you come with the right skillset and creative mind. Your role is to develop and define the communication platform and to tell stories of projects from around the world, within the contexts of architecture, design, construction, and sustainability. You will thus help strengthen SHL’s brand position in its key markets. Moreover, you will work in a creative, fast-paced environment with expertise from a diverse range of backgrounds. The entire team is both strategic and operational and works with a hands-on approach.

 

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Lead the creation, and execution of a strong, strategic communication plan to promote the SHL brand
  • Develop compelling content and thought leadership pieces that support the overall communication strategy
  • Lead PR efforts by writing news articles and help respond to media inquiries
  • Identity relevant awards and create compelling award entries for ongoing projects
  • Manage the communications on SHL’s Social Media channels including creating content and engaging with its community
  • Create visually strong presentation materials for Partner/Client meetings, talks and events

The position is in Copenhagen, Denmark.


Your profile
The ideal candidate holds a degree in journalism, communications, architecture, design or similar and has experience from working within professional services, in the B2B industry and/or in strongly purpose-driven and political organizations. A minimum of 3 years of experience from a similar role, preferably in internationally reputable design or architecture firms, is necessary as you must be able to challenge our partners and contribute with new perspectives. Having knowledge in architecture, art, and design as well as an interest in social science is a must, just like it is an advantage if you come with a natural interest in sustainability and environmental matters.

To fulfill the role as Communications Manager you are confident working within short deadlines, leading multiple communication projects at once, and can work independently in a dynamic work environment. Furthermore, connecting with people both internally and externally is essential to this role, so we expect that you take pride in forming good working relationships across operational and professional boundaries. The ideal candidate has an eye for photography and visual content and is experienced within the digital sphere from social media to media outlets, tools and platforms and possesses skills with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop) and Microsoft PowerPoint.

The person we are looking for comes with a creative mind and the ability to find the good story and tell it both visually and textually, in an engaging manner. You possess creative, innovative writing skills, and it is furthermore a requirement that you are an excellent communicator in both English and Danish, oral as well as written, and is strong with a pen in your hand. With high energy and a will to succeed, you meet your surroundings with an open and optimistic approach. It is essential that your strategic mindset is accompanied by a ‘can do’ mentality, as this role requires that you are able to execute on your ambitious strategies and plans as well. Thus, it is important that you possess well-developed interpersonal skills, thrive in a social setting and are keen to enter an international architectural practice where business growth and innovation are at the very top of the agenda.
