Digital Marketing Manager for Scandlines

On behalf of Scandlines, we are currently seeking a visionary and driven Digital Marketing Manager with an eye for SoMe, who will drive and manage Scandlines' brand presence through inspiring campaigns on digital platforms. Based on data insights, you will be the leading force in securing an inspiring and seamless experience for Scandlines customers.

About Scandlines
Scandlines is a modern and innovative ferry operator with a green vision for the future, taking pride in being a resilient culture based on strong German-Danish cooperation and maritime history dating back to 1872. Today, Scandlines is owned by three infrastructure funds and owns the world's largest fleet of hybrid ferries operating between Germany and Denmark from the German harbors Puttgarden and Rostock and the Danish harbors Rødby and Gedser.

Scandlines have set a clear vision to reach a green ferry operation, continuously aiming at finding the best and most sustainable technical solutions. Thus, Scandlines offers a fleet of hybrid ferries, where petrol or diesel is combined with electricity, alongside noise-reducing thrusters that produce less underwater noise and further reduce CO2 emissions, and a rotor sail that is powered on the wind. Furthermore, Scandlines focuses on reducing food waste, less use of chemicals, a safe workplace, and more green spaces on land to integrate sustainability throughout all activities.

With more than 38,000 departures on seven ferries, Scandlines transported over 3.6 million passengers, 950,000 cars, and 720,000 freights on the routes Puttgarden-Rødby and Rostock-Gedser in 2021. Scandlines' core business is to provide an efficient and reliable transport service for passengers and freight customers, focusing on delivering great customer experience throughout all activities – from onboarding the ferry to excellent customer service in their BorderShops.

The position
As Digital Marketing Manager, you will be responsible for activating and capturing customers by creating immersive digital marketing strategies and executing on them so that they actively choose Scandlines as their way down through Europe. Data will play a pivotal role over the coming years for Scanlines, as they will put extra power into using data to create targeted communication and create relevant, personalized user experiences across all their channels. Therefore, you must be data-driven in your approach to digital marketing. 

Your key responsibilities will include the following:

  • Developing and executing the marketing plans of owned digital sales channels for Scandlines and BorderShop in collaboration with the Brand, Web, and SoMe Teams.
  • Executing and reporting paid advertising (Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, Google), in collaboration with external media agencies.
  • Working closely with the Brand and CRM teams on omnichannel campaigns, always focusing on the customer journey.
  • Staying current with industry trends and developments related to the digital landscape and testing new ways to expand Scanline’s reach on new digital platforms.
  • Following up on digital marketing activities, optimizing digital media budget, and analyzing and reporting on performance based on data insights.

Your profile
The ideal candidate comes with a relevant communication, marketing, or business administration degree or 2-3 years of professional experience from a similar role or agency. Experience in travel, E-commerce or the retail industry is an advantage. To succeed in this role, you possess the ability to identify issues and areas for improvement through analysis, along with great project management skills. Moreover, you have a solid understanding of social media and digital platforms and have practical experience with paid SoMe and Meta Business Manager. The tasks require you to be able to plan, execute and have an overview of the interaction between the digital channels and ensure a good customer journey.

Furthermore, we seek a candidate with proven communication proficiencies both in a written and verbal manner. You are fluent in Danish and English while knowing the German language is a plus.

The ideal candidate should bring enthusiasm and passion for adding value to help growing business, be willing to shape the process and procedures and be committed to maintaining constant awareness of projects and trends. To that, you have well-developed interpersonal skills and a proactive, solution-oriented approach to the job. You are also not afraid to take on and execute tasks - especially when many things happen simultaneously, and everyone does their best to reach the goal.
