To take Bang & Olufsen’s strategic partnership with LG to the next level, we are looking for a commercial and reliable Director of Strategic Alliances, who will be the main center of contact for LG while leading the LG Business team and exploiting the opportunities that lies in further development of the partnership.

Bang & Olufsen is one of Denmark’s most praised and well-known brands and has a long and proud tradition of delivering state of the art audio and TV products built on their core competencies within sound, design and craftmanship. In 1925, the brand was founded with a strong focus on sound of the highest quality by the two engineers Peter Bang & Svend Olufsen based in Struer.
Historically, Bang & Olufsen has throughout the years positioned themselves as a luxury brand with great emphasis on quality and design and today, the company has grown to a global brand with 1000+ employees and products sold in over 600 stores across 70+ countries.

Bang & Olufsen aims for delivering nothing less than the best solutions and products for all their worldwide customers as well as to give them an extraordinary experience. They continue to launch several new, innovative products, increase brand partnering activities and keep strengthening their business model through groundbreaking initiatives and global alliances. To identify strategic and structural options to increase scale and further reduce complexity within the company, they have e.g. entered a strategic technology partnership with LG Electronics, one of the world’s largest producers of TVs and a technological frontrunner with its leading OLED technology and WebOS. Hence, Bang & Olufsen is now looking for a Director of Strategic Alliances to strengthen and develop this collaboration as well as other strategic partnerships.

The position
As Director of Strategic Alliances, you will be the primary leader of the LG-partnership taking the partnership into a new era to help Bang & Olufsen stay at the forefront of innovation and deliver profitable growth. You will be in charge of developing and executing a strategy that entails a win-win setup for both companies, ensure operations and subsequently lead the execution of the strategy. Moreover, you will be responsible for developing a LG Partner account plan informing the daily work of the Bang & Olufsen and LG business teams, thus strategically defining the bigger picture of the collaboration.

With strong interpersonal and negotiating skills and an openminded approach, you will lead the LG Business team with focus on commercial, strategic and product development collaborating with a broad range of stakeholders including LG South Korea and other global ecosystems, key partners and suppliers as e.g. music services. To succeed in the position, it is therefore essential that you have commercial and strategic flair, can drive business conversations and plans at C-level, align and manage stakeholders and partnerships to reach long-term goals.

The position covers moreover responsibility for identifying unique differentiating functions through interactions and partnerships with strategic partners that represent global ecosystems and content providers such as Amazon, Apple, Google, and Tencent, Spotify, Deezer and TuneIn. You will play a vital part in developing strong global collaborations with other key stakeholders to explore unique Bang & Olufsen functionalities and features that can be implemented on top of each specific ecosystems. With the overall goal to ensure that Bang & Olufsen has a holistic view of the ecosystems landscape (outside-in), and that the product portfolio has a holistic and coherent offering with those ecosystems towards customers (inside-out), you will define strategies, ensure timely execution and drive project management following both the company’s processes and the ones imposed by each partnership.

The position is located at Bang & Olufsen’s Danish HQ but includes frequent travel to Asia. It is a unique opportunity to enter a leading and essential role within Bang & Olufsen where you will collaborate closely with the management team, manage and develop strong partnerships and alliances to further strengthen Bang & Olufsen’s development and ensure positive growth for both the company, key stakeholders and customers.

Your profile
We are looking for a highly strategic and experienced senior profile with strong collaboration, negotiation and coordination skills who has a multi-cultural understanding with emphasis on the Asian culture. The ideal candidate holds a degree within Business or Technology and comes with minimum 8-10 years of experience from a similar position – preferably from an agency, consultancy or a large B2C/B2B company.

It is essential that you are tech savvy and data-driven and also have a strong business acumen as well as a profound knowledge and understanding of working and negotiating agreements with acknowledged, global brands and companies. A natural interest in brands as well as in sustainable and innovative ecosystems is seen as a great advantage. You are commercial, understand business politics and thrive working in a holistic way managing and leading multiple stakeholders at C-level across borders and cultures while establishing and developing long-lasting relations and strategic partnerships. It is vital that you possess excellent interpersonal and communications skills, are resilient and hold on to your vision and company values and are able to disclose and express them. Thereto, you are comfortable with complexity and thinking on multiple levels of abstraction.

As a person, you have an open and including mindset and are self-driven and positive with a “can do”-attitude. This originates from your high level of energy and provides you with a strong drive to always perform your very best, complete what you started and achieve defined goals – also even though the pressure is high and the tasks many. You hold strong execution skills and enjoy working on an independent and strategic level, yet in close collaboration with colleagues, teams and stakeholders and hold thereto strong collaboration and coordination skills. You are accountable and always delivering on commitments, and with a high sense of order and structure, you plan and organize your work.

Lastly, you are passionate about innovation and development and possess the right personal and professional flair, stand and seniority to drive and develop strong partnerships with some of the industry’s leading tech companies by taking the strategic lead ensuring execution and growth.
