People Business Partner

On behalf of HAY, we are looking for an experienced and determined People Business Partner to ensure alignment with HR and business initiatives. In the role you will provide senior level HR support and coaching to the HAY Leadership Team (LT) on the delivery of the strategic people plan, to include talent, leadership & culture.

About the company

HAY was founded in 2002 as an innovative design company with the clear ambition of making modern and functional design objects accessible to a wide audience. HAY's continued vision is to create straightforward, functional, and aesthetic design in collaboration with some of the world's most talented designers. HAY currently has 250 employees in Denmark and abroad, with 31 HAY stores in Europe, Asia, and the USA.

In 2018, a majority share of HAY was acquired by the American design company, MillerKnoll, whilst retaining the same company vision of collaborating with talented designers from all over the world to create functional and refined designs. At MillerKnoll, a unique culture represents the collective attitudes, ideas, and experiences of the people who work there. They focus on protecting the environment, impacting our communities, exceeding the expectations of our customers through high-quality products, and championing diversity in all areas of the business.

About the position

In the position, you will be working with the management team to align and strengthen the synergies between HAY’s HR and business Initiatives. As People Business Partner, you will be a member of the HAY LT. Here, your main responsibilities will lie within the areas of Strategic Business Partnering, Talent, Leadership, Culture, Employee Relations, and HR Operations.

A central part of the role is developing and leading the implementation of a business-specific talent plan to ensure the right people and capabilities in the right roles. The focus is first and foremost on management– to attract, develop and retain top talent. You will be cooperating with management in shaping annual talent and total rewards processes. Furthermore, you will coach said leaders and provide guidance and advice on people and culture matters. To succeed in the position, you need a strong commercial mindset and the ability to focus on collaboration and effectiveness whilst encouraging a growth mindset across teams.

Additionally, you will manage smooth day-to-day administrative running of the business as it pertains to people – including recruitment and selection processes, onboarding, and training programs for new employees with respect to health, safety, diversity, and overall wellbeing. Thus, a main task also consists of developing and implementing strategies to drive higher engagement, commitment, and a greater sense of belonging. This is done through a consistent focus on the diversity, equality & inclusion agenda at HAY.

You will be based in either Copenhagen or Horsens, Denmark, with regular weekly travel activity between both locations, furthermore, you will act as the conduit between the business & Global HR programming based in the USA.

Your profile

The ideal candidate comes with a relevant academic educational background within HR or a related field. Furthermore, you come with at least 5 years of senior HR experience in a Danish or European fast-paced commercial environment. Preferably if you have experience working in a global matrixed business environment and have worked with commercial leaders, to develop people plans that support business growth.

You have relevant in-depth knowledge of both labour law and HR practices. You can set a clear direction in a challenging environment and bring out the best in cross-functional team relationships. This includes demonstrated leadership skills in organizational effectiveness and change and transformation management. It is important that you hold strong listening and communication skills, and are an excellent advisor, communicator, and negotiator, with cultural sensitivity. As HAY is an international brand, it is imperative that you are bi-lingual in Danish and English.

As a person, you are ambitious and result-oriented and willing to put in the extra effort to achieve a successful outcome and make a difference. You have a robust and outgoing personality and thrive on working in a fast-paced company with an unpretentious environment, where your entrepreneurial and determined mindset drives you to get things done. Furthermore, the ideal candidate possesses a strong intellectual curiosity and is business savvy – you are a creative thinker and take interest in the bigger picture.

The role functions as a strong talent pipeline into prospective global HRLT roles – and functions as a catalyst for building your career within HAY and the wider MillerKnoll ecosystem, as well as building broader business understanding. With exposure to not only some of the world’s most iconic brands, being a part of a growing business and value-driven, purpose-orientated environment – the HAY and MillerKnoll communities offer you a place to grow and thrive.
