On behalf of Schmidt Hammer Lassen Architects we are looking for a driven and strategic Head of Marketing with flair for combining commercial thinking with marketing and branding initiatives to develop, drive and execute the company’s overall marketing strategies.

Schmidt Hammer Lassen Architects is one of Scandinavia's most recognized and award-winning architectural practices. The company was founded in Aarhus, Denmark in 1986 and is led today by the partner group of 11 architects and industry leaders. The firm provides skilled architectural services all over the world, with a distinguished track record as designers of international, high-profile architecture. Cultural and educational buildings, offices, commercial, retail, and residential buildings, often in mixed-use developments and complex urban contexts, are cornerstones of the firm's output. The practice has extensive global experience in the design of libraries and other public and cultural landmark buildings, and its innovative, sustainable, and democratic approach to architecture has attracted global attention, winning more than 100 national and international awards.

Currently, the firm comprises 141 employees at the headquarter in Copenhagen, Denmark, that are currently delivering 40 projects in more than 10 markets around the globe. E.g. two tower projects in Carlsberg Byen; the world’s largest waste-to-energy plant located in Shenzhen, China, and a range of award-winning built projects like the Royal Danish Library, the ARoS museum in Denmark, and the City of Westminster College in London.

In early 2018, Schmidt Hammer Lassen was acquired by the American architecture and design firm Perkins and Will. The merger gives Schmidt Hammer Lassen access to a new pool of talent, research, and resources that strengthen both its operations and its public offerings. In November 2019, the company consolidated its Danish operations into one power center in Copenhagen, as well as opened two new offices in the United States; one in New York City and one in San Francisco in order to service new and existing clients across the North American continent.

Schmidt Hammer Lassen aims at experiencing even further growth, and in early 2020, ambitious actions will streamline workflow and increase transparency. Hence, the Head of Marketing will be a key driver in ensuring the success of marketing activities, joining the firm in shaping and executing the next chapter in Schmidt Hammer Lassen’s evolution.


The position
The position requires a bold, sharp and commercially driven marketing leader with flair for combining business, marketing and branding initiatives to strengthen Schmidt Hammer Lassen’s development and positive momentum within the industry through well developed and executed marketing strategies. Entering the position, you will get the opportunity to set your personal mark, leading and setting the company’s marketing initiatives in close cooperation with the management team. You will be acting as a sparring partner throughout the whole organization, enabling exceptional architecture, ideas, innovation and marketing strategies to increase business development and market share.

The position includes responsibility within classic marketing, digital marketing and the branding area. It is therefore essential that you possess a strategic and operational mindset and understand the complexity of global architecture, its development and growth opportunities and the dynamics of the industry to set correct and target group-oriented marketing strategies.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Developing, implementing and executing on Schmidt Hammer Lassen’s marketing and branding initiatives
  • Driving new digital consumer offerings through specific developed marketing activities
  • Developing and implementing Schmidt Hammer Lassen’s global and local marketing projects
  • Data analysis, identifying opportunities, forecasting traffic and revenue budget – and achieving these
  • Optimizing investments and document ROI from search marketing activities
  • Setting the company’s overall SoMe-strategy together with the Head of Communications
  • Report on online marketing KPI’s
  • Collaborate closely with the management, your team and other stakeholders
  • Lead processes and guide both the management and your team, with whom you will push the commercial marketing agenda

The position is located in Copenhagen, Denmark.


Your profile
The ideal candidate holds a degree in marketing, communications or similar and has experience from working within professional services, preferably in the B2B industry and/or in strongly purpose-driven and political organizations. You know how to combine business insight with marketing to structure, develop and execute innovative commercial marketing strategies across different platforms. Moreover, you are well-versed in the digital marketing disciplines and are able to set an ambitious digital strategy that can contribute to the realization of commercial KPI’s.

You find it inspiring to work in cross-functional teams and cultures. You are an excellent communicator in both English and Danish, oral as well as written, and is strong with a pen in your hand.

As a person, you are impact-driven and business-minded. With high energy and a will to succeed, you meet your surroundings with an open and optimistic approach. It is essential that your strategic mindset is accompanied by a ‘can do’ mentality, as this role requires that you are able to execute on your ambitious strategies and plans as well. You will play an important role in the Schmidt Hammer Lassen organization and interact with colleagues on all levels. Thus, it is important that you possess well-developed interpersonal skills and thrive in a social role. Lastly, you find it motivating to be the driving frontrunner of both small and large marketing projects and are keen to enter an international architectural practice where business growth and innovation are at the very top of the agenda.
